Common fault of oxygen sensor

The oxygen sensor failure, the electronic fuel injection system of computer can not get the oxygen concentration in the exhaust pipe, and therefore can not be on the air-fuel ratio feedback control, can make the engine fuel consumption and exhaust pollution increase, engine idling instability, misfire and surge fault phenomenon. Poisoning fault

Oxygen sensor poisoning is a frequent and difficult way to prevent and control. Especially for cars that often use leaded gasoline, even new oxygen sensors can only work for thousands of kilometers. If it is only mild lead poisoning, then a box of unleaded gasoline will be used to remove the lead on the surface of the oxygen sensor and restore it to normal work. But often due to excessive exhaust temperature, lead invades its interior, hinders the diffusion of oxygen ions, causes oxygen sensors to fail, and can only be replaced at this time.

In addition, it is common for oxygen sensors to have silicon poisoning. Generally speaking, the silicone compounds in gasoline and lubricants contain silica gas and silicone rubber gaskets which are not used properly, which will cause the oxygen sensor to fail. Therefore, we need to use good quality fuel and lubricating oil.

Choose the repair and installation of rubber washers correctly, not coated on the sensor specified by the manufacturer for use outside of the solvent and anti sticking agent such as the engine combustion is not good, the formation of carbon deposits on the surface of the oxygen sensor, oxygen sensor or the internal into the dirt or dust sediment, will hinder or block the external air into the oxygen sensor, the the output signal of the oxygen sensor misalignment, ECU can not timely correct air-fuel ratio. The production of carbon is mainly shown as the increase of oil consumption and the increase of the emission concentration. At this point, if the sediment is removed, it will return to normal work. 

When the oxygen sensor is polluted, poisoned or aged, the regulation frequency is obviously slower, and the voltage waveform is also nearly flat. Under normal circumstances, it usually fluctuates about 50 times a minute.

Ceramic fragmentation

The ceramic of the oxygen sensor is hard and brittle, and it can be broken by knocking with hard or blowing in strong air. Therefore, be careful when dealing with the problem and find that the problem is changed in time.

Wire breaking

Heater resistance wire burn, for heating oxygen sensor, if heater resistance wire ablation, it is very difficult to make sensor work at normal temperature and lose its function.

Line breaking

The internal line of the oxygen sensor is disconnected.
